Really??? What did you expect?

Folks,

I find articles like this amazing , not for the content, but the reactions they provoke. It would seem that the world is surprised that the US would spy on it's Allies. Why? I find it hard to believe that the German PM would not like access to the cellphone of the POTUS if  it gave her an advantage in let's say G2 negotiations. It would seem that the rest of the world is slightly confused or naive about the nature of electronic surveillance. If it is broadcast via electronic transmission you should assume that you enemies and friends can and will get it Period. To take a stance less than this is negligent

I think the question of whether Edward Snowden is a whistleblower is irrelevant unless all of the cards are on the table. It is quite easy to be shocked and dismayed at the U.S  behavior. But I am willing to bet that this behavior is not occurring in a vacuum. I am also willing to bet that our allies have conducted operations in our country and in our embassies around the world. I think the outrage maybe directed at the fact we apparently our getting more than we are giving away.
